Thanks for all the great name ideas! I'm about to get my first chicks this weekend and have been racking my brain for names. I must admit, before coming to this site all the names I had in mind are "old lady" names! :) Emma, Helen, April, May, June, Daisy, Ginger, MaryAnne, Louise... and of course Miss Prissy!

Well if you were/are a Looney Tunes fan then Miss Prissy is a must along with Cleghorn Leghorn! Remember she was the skinny plain hen with the egghead son and Cleghorn was trying to date her.

I name my chickens after suffragists: Harriet, Lucy, Muriel, Edith, and Dora.
My ducks, I name after first ladies: Mary Todd, Mamie, Eleanor, Dolley, Lady Bird, and Grace.
Awkwardly, Martha and Bess grew up to be Franklin and Theodore.

For my Polish Crested:
Chicky Gaga
Aretha Chicken
Buckbuck Bjork
Tina Eggturner
Elvis Poultry

Every batch of chicks, we have a theme. Last March it was characters from Downton Abbey, and for our September batch it was herbs and spices. (I named my favorite pullet "Sweet Basil") When a hen went broody and hatched out six chicks a couple of months later, I named them simply Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro, Cinco, and Seis. Dos has since earned a proper name: Kismet.

We currently have 5 chickens. 2 Rhode Island Reds 2 yellowish-orange chickens, (I don't remember the breed) and 1 Bantam Australorp. The Reds are called Pikelet (broody) and Julia after the 1st Female Prime Minister of Australia. Australorp is called Storm, and the remaining two are called Lightning and Thunder. Two Arucanas were killed by a dog last year. Their names were Omlette and Tortilla. Hope you guys like the names!

My chickens are named after princesses. All are disney princesses right now.

Jasmine - Welsummer - as a chick had more exotic eyes and was always trying to get free
Aurora - Buff Orpington - blond hair

Belle - Easter Egger - blue legs vs blue dress
Merida - Blue Laced Red Wyandotte - Red heads!

I name my chickens the first thing that comes to mind.

I have Sal who was born today- someone here named him,
His mom's name is Sally so it fit,
then I have Crystal, Aurabella, Darcy (who is a rooster), Angel, George, Stuffy, Starlah, Cricket, Dellcea, Diana, Daphne, and Devo.
