Thanks GracefulBantams.

Definitely go for it! Have fun decorating your egg. I've been having a good time experimenting and coming up with new ideas. Never hurts to try!

I have a new egg I made that I need to take a pic of to show you guys....I want to give it to some friends this weekend, so I'll have to take a pic when it's ready to go. I haven't made many lately due to sickness and a full work schedule.

For those of you who gave me suggestions as far as what to coat/seal the eggs with, I've been using Mod Podge with good results. It works great with the rub-ons, and it works just fine for the ones I painted with acrylic ink - no bleeding ink or messed up etchings! phew...

I have a question about the "etching" eggs you made - did you use wax? And what type of paint did you use? When I was growing up, my mother collected decorated eggs that were decorated with this sort of etching and wax method, so I'm curious about your methodologies? Please tell!

Thanks 2ndtime,

On the etched egg I just used black acrylic artist's ink. I found it at Hobby Lobby. All I do is paint it on the surface of the egg, and then scratch off the design with a safety pin. Pretty simple....but time consuming (depending on your design!)

I'm trying to crank out a few more eggs for relatives this week....I'll try to post some pics if I have time. I've been so busy lately!

Happy Holidays
