Do the hens lay at 4 month old?
My hens didn't start laying till late spring. So, they were about 8 months when they finally started.(Malay Hens)

Early laying is something I avoid. I keep 5-6 month average layers. So we don't keep early layers like, Golden Comet, & such.

The rooster that fathered the chick was fast maturing.

The New Hampshire was bred from pure Rhode Island Reds through selective breeding for faster maturity, and meat. This saves a lot of time, it took 8 years to set the line. However, their size depends on which hatchery they come from. This hatchery has the big ones https://www.freedomrangerhatchery.com/shop/product/new-hampshire-gmo-free-chicken/

I had New Hampshires once. The cockerel wanted to kick my butt, & the pullet was eaten by a Skunk. She started laying at about 4½ - 5 months.

I know about the New Hampshires, I read about them like a year, or two ago.

My Breese started laying at 4 months old; However, they start processing the hens at 5 months and the roosters at 4 months in France. They average 3 to 6 lbs at that age............but the listed mature weight is 7lbs.
