Yes! I am just going to put a row of blocks underneath the fence border. There is a type of block that has "cut outs" that will allow the fence to sit down in the block, thus sort of holding down the fence. Almost the entire inside perimeter of the dog run will be dirt.
Hello! Just got my first ever chicks on Sunday. The home I bought last March has an existing chain link dog run which I'm converting to my run. We have raccoons around. Chain link won't keep them out? I'm going to cover it with 2 by 4 welded wire and also a foot underground. Glad to be a part of this community!
Chain link won't keep a raccoon from reaching in and you still need a top on the run because it's easily climbed. It is perfect, though, for keeping out the bigger critters like stray dogs and it can serve as a base for attaching cheaper wire with smaller holes to keep out most anything.
