Cyclops Chicken - help! Bad eye problem (graphic & scary)

Warm wet compresses; eye ointment or drops (gentamycin, terramycin, even contact lens wetting or soaking solution (NOT cleaning solution).

You might also gently massage and rub and press backwards from her nares towards her eye. I strongly expect that there is a large amount of hard cheesy pus built up in there.

Tylan 50 shots would be a good OTC choice, or possibly penicillin.

I can't even figure out where to drain her. Poor thing definitely has a fever. I found an eye antibiotic cream, so at least her lid is being kept lubricated. The infection is now spreading to her other eye.

I brought her to the vet. The symptoms I didn't know led into an obvious conclusion.

The lump wasn't that hard and had spread to the other eye.
She was having trouble breathing as it was closing off the chicken equivalent to a windpipe.
When we opened her mouth, the back of her throat was closing in, swollen up.

Definitely a tumor and trying to pry out the mass was simply going to be impossible. We put her down.

The next question though is why, as some diseases make tumors. So where this seems like an isolated incident, it might not be.

Thanks everyone.
