Curious if I can use Cyclosporine on a chicken’s infected eye? Tried a search, but could not find anything on backyard chicken’s site.
Have hen w/swollen eye for 3 days. Trying to apply warm compress made her become as friendly as a pterodactyl. Have Cyclosporine drops, (for elderly dog w/reoccurring eye infections, who recently passed). Some pet meds we have state ‘For Dogs Only’. Unfortunately, This tiny bottle has NO label, other than label vet placed on med bottle/container it was placed in.

I don't find any info for using Cyclosporine it in birds, even looked in the Vet Drug Manual I have, it only lists it for cats/dogs.

@casportpony or @Eggcessive may have other information, hard to know.

If your hen has an eye infection, general care is to flush with saline, then use an ointment like Terramycin eye ointment in the eye. You can find Terramycin at TSC or order in online.

Do you have any idea how the eye became infected? Respiratory illness or injury?

Cyclosporine is for dry eye, eye allergies. I would get Terramycin eye ointment from your feed store, or if not available, use plain Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment twice daily into the eye for a week or two. Your vet may help, and can prescribe either Erythromycin or Neosporin eye ointment or eye drops.
