Out of those 22 eggs, I have three of charlottes and one of silvers that look like something might happen. Two of the four look iffy. None of the others even developed. Guess they just got to cold or were in shipping to long. At least I have something growing.

Aw, geez, Christina! Well, that week long trip didn't help and who knows how cold they got, in spite of all the bubblewrap. Did they refund part of that shipping when they sent it parcel post rather than the Priority I paid for? I'll be amazed if you get any to hatch, but if you do, you'll love them, I guarantee it. So, none of the Orps are developing? Did you crack them open? If not, I'd give them another few days to be sure since the shells are harder to candle.

No the PO hasnt gotten back to me yet, but Im being optimistic lol. I did crack all the ones open and no development. After I found out it was parcel post I knew the trucks get really cold.

That makes me so mad! They sure charge a ton for their no-guarantee Priority Mail then to just send it however they feel like, it burns me up. Are you going to continue hatching this winter? If so, maybe there's a way to get more eggs out to you; I know those eggs were fertile since I'm hatching their eggs here, so they must have sat on a cold truck for a long period. I'm so sorry!

I think Im going to wait till spring to hatch more. We just got 1 1/2 foot of snow last night. I have been out all day on the tractor plowing areas for the animals so they can come out of there coops and the barn. Do you have a spot on your waiting list for spring?

Well, how about March 24th shipping date? It will only be the Orpingtons (and Barred Rocks, if you want those) because I won't be breeding the Ameraucanas by then. I've already notified all my customers who asked for those.

The date sounds good so put me down and I would take BR too. Why arent you going to breed the Ameruncanas?

Long story, but they were sort of a whim in the first place. I never planned to keep a rooster of that breed. My DH isn't in love with them, either. He much prefers the Orps and Barred Rocks, which I also love. I've been going back and forth about it for a long time, so in January, another BYC'er is going to take Scout & Silver as a pair and I'm keeping Charlotte and possibly one of her daughters for some tinted eggs in my laying flock. Of course, I could completely change my mind and keep one of Scout's sons, who knows? I do like them alot and they are some of the sweetest, calmest chicks I have.
I'll put you on the list for that date and this time, no P.O. malfunctions, I bet!

Ohh well I hope the other BCYer plans to sell eggs. I had really decided that these were some of chickesn I wanted. I only will have a small flock so I want to be picky about the birds and egg colors I want.

I do understand the need at times to thin the herd.
