When did you last trace air cells...or did you see this by candling?The embryo broke the shell just under the air cell. I made sure the membrane was pierced.
At least 24 hours after external pip, 48 if pip is actually a side pip (not thru air cell). I hope that makes sense.How long should I wait before it can be assumed that the embryo needs help?

Often the air cells draw down after last tracing at day 18, so what appears to be a pip outside of cell(side pip) is in fact not.

It's 48 if you 100% sure it didn't pip internally. This one should be able to hatch on it's own, I've had a lot do this.Saw it through candling. I don't trace air cells.
