You are the good we need to see in this world. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are less than. If people have negative things to say of you they're of no importance in your life. Negative people have their own problems to grapple with and they take it out on those who they are intimidated by. Pray for their souls, or wish them peace and move on.

When I was a kid my father told me I knew nothing because I was a girl. He thought nothing of making fun of me, and allowing my brothers to do the same. I grew up feeling stupid and useless. I have matured past that. I refuse to let anyone, especially any man to tell me my worth.

Women need to stop letting men decide who they are or who they should be or look like. My worth isn't judged through a man's eyes, or anyone's eyes but mine. I no longer let others decide what I should feel like. We are all unique. I choose to walk my own path, and am happy for it.

Amen, coming from a guy. My Mom was the first female letter carrier in the modern postal system. Boy did that open my eyes.

That must have been very dispiriting. My daughters are lovely and independent. The eldest in particular is extraordinarily capable.

I've been walked on enough in my life. In reality I'm passive first, extremely aggressive later if you go too far.
People who deal with me in person think they can say and do whatever they want because I usually don't put up a fight. I have a very, very high tolerance level. But if anyone dares step outside that, well, bless their heart. I go 0 to 60 real quick and I almost never encounter repeat offenders.

If you take one thing away from this it should be this: NOBODY messes with my friends and family, or anyone not able to defend themselves. I will ALWAYS defend the underdog.

I find it funny that strong women are often feared or called names for standing up and speaking their minds. Men are often celebrated as leaders for the same actions. Things are slowly changing thankfully. You should be proud of your mom, and I'm sure you are.
