Need some guidance on one of my hens and a lump that is on her. It has just grown up in the past few days. I have been monitoring it and it has not gotten any bigger, nor is it sensitive to the touch or is she in pain. Her egg production has not been affected. In one of pictures her eye looks milky but they are clear and no discharge. Im thinking an insect bite. Should I lance it, or let nature run its course? You can find a million explainations online but I was wondering if anyone on here has had a similar situation. I am not worried about it being MG as she does don't have any respiratory distress nor the accomping odor or nasal discharge. There is a white head at the end of it, looks like an ant bite or an ingrown hair/feather. It has a little pus in it. Her face did not swell. Im still montoring it daily Thank you

The white looking part of the eye is her nictitating membrane which is the protective third eyelid. If the lump is very soft it may start shrinking back tomorrow, if it was an insect bite. If it doesn't start to shrink, then I would be tempted to clean with with betadine, and lance it, taking care not to get any of the pus or contents into the eye. Peck wounds can also swell like this, but the center would be black instead of white. If you leave it, if there is pus, it may solidify. Please let us know how it turns out.
