11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. No pics, sry
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use: clean straw

it seems like she has something that resembles a mouth ulcer in humans. There's an elongated yellow pussy streak on the underside in her mouth ; the lump is directly underneath her beak and between her wattles. Her mouth smells like rotting food. We managed to push the food up from underneath and got most of it out, although her mouth did bleed a little, then we rinsed it out with salt water. For a day or two this seemed to have worked and we have rinsed it again with salt water, but today it was very swollen again with yellow 'gooey' food in it we couldn't squeeze out and she seems to be struggling eating. The closest in animals I've ever seen something like this an abcess.

She's still feeding and drinking and preening herself ; the rest of the flock doesn't seem to bother her.

How about her tongue? Could she have something like a string tied around it, causing infection?

Are there cottage-cheese like yellow growths in her mouth? That might indicate canker, a fungal infection. Just thinking here.

Her tongue looks normal, it's pushed off to the side because of the infection or whatever it is. Theres almost like a pocket in the bottom right corner of her mouth, and ive gotten yellow mushy stuff out of it, along with pieces of food and dirt

From the pictures ive seen on Google it looks like a canker. But none of the other birds have it, and i read on an article in Backyard Poultry that birds usually die within 8-10 days. This is day 8 and she seems to be doing ok. This is what i found to treat her with. Does it look right?

combine 1 pound copper sulfate (powdered bluestone) with 1 cup vinegar and 1 gallon water, mix well, add 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) solution per gallon drinking water for 4-7 days, served in a non-metal waterer; non-meat birds may be treated with metronidazole (trade name Flagyl) injections or pills or with carnidazole (Spartrix) pills for 5 days; recovered birds are carriers.

Now after doing some more reading, I've found that the copper sulfate treatment doesn't work. And it could possibly be a yeast infection or fowl pox... I'm so confused!

I dont think it's fowl pox... someone on another site had a chicken with the same symptoms, someone suggested wet fowl pox. But the pics of chickens with wet fowl pox have black and brown growths on their combs, and my bird doesn't. My chicken just has a pocket of yellowish gunk in her mouth and a lump under beak that has grown larger in the past few days

Ok I've isolated the Leghorn, given her some yogurt, she ate it right up. her crop is pretty empty but not filled with fluid. The yellow gunk in her mouth doesnt seem to be coming back. I finally got some pics! And i will be calling the vet tomorrow to see if they will see her.Hopefully the rest of the flock wont get it. The first pic is obviously an outside look at her lump. the second is the inside of her mouth, you can see some yellow stuff near the back and a bloody pit, where i dug out some stuff earlier.
