So, I went outside this morning to witness my chickens, who had apparently found some ground-bird's nest, eating little baby bridies alive. I mean, really, they were just tearing these poor little things apart. By the time I got over to them they had already eaten the last one.

So, wow... I have to say I'm looking at my chickens in a whole new light now. They're sort of mean, heartless predators man! I mean, I (obviously) still adore them, but they definitely seem to have a much evil-er glint in their eyes now. :hmm

Anyone else with similar stories?

Oh man!

I was working on the run yesterday afternoon and my little barn cat came up with an almost dead snake (about 1' long). He proudly presented me with it and I promptly killed it. *** and before I get all that flack about killing snakes and how wonderful they are - it was already half dead and I had NO intention of trying to nurse it *** Anyway, it never crossed my mind to toss it to the chooks but I should've! What a great opportunity for the little monsters to learn to see them as food. I'd never have to worry about one showing up in the coop.

That's right! They're great at getting the "vermin" out of the yard :) But, I guess they're great at getting the cute animals out of the yard too! Lol

Lol - My little broody silkie will go absolutely crazy on any cat stupid enough to come near her too! Those little girls aren't scared of anything!
