GOOD NEWS! Baby #2 is out and resting, AND egg #3 is still alive!!

I did the float-test and it rocked back and forth. I still see some veining in the shell and I witnessed it pushing against the air cell membrane, so I think it's just a late bloomer. A very late bloomer. I put it back in the incubator and I'll check on it throughout the day.

Here's the new baby! (Don't worry, the heat is cranked up to 85 and the humidifier is on full blast. She was also only out of the bator for ten seconds while hubby took the shot.)

He's super curious! He slept by the bator last night and the brooder is on the bed so the baby can see me as I work, and every time it peeps his head goes straight up like a telescope! The cats are curious, too.

Baby is trying to nibble on the terry cloth lining in the brooder, hehe. Already sipped on a tiny bit of water and is trying to preen itself. Poor little thing doesn't realize it's futile :p

How is egg number 3? Did you end up peeking in the air hole?

No, just candled. If it still hasn't internally pipped by tonight I might poke a tiny hole in the shell and try to get a look-see, but as long as there are still red veins along the membrane I don't want to disturb it. But seeing the membrane get pushed out where it was tells me that its head is in the right position, at least.

Well thats good! Keep in mind that his beak may be too little to break externally. I think that is what happened with the first one.... Just a guess.

Is the new guy dried off yet?

Gettin' there. It's dry-ish, but it still looks like a ragamuffin, hehe! It's getting fluffier b y the hour though, and hopefully by tonight it'll be a total cotton ball.
