I'm not sure about black calls, but I had an older Black East Indie duck and she had a lot of white feathers. I was told it happened as they age, sort of like us getting grey hair. My younger BEI just has a few on her chest which she has had since only a few months old.

Thanks I really like them so the quality doesn't really matter that much I would just like to know, I relly like that Pip is a grey call and not a Blue Fawn.

All you can really do is wait until they get bigger so they can run away and take care of themselves. I lost a duckling once to his Pekin dad, now I take my drake away as soon as any ducks go broody on eggs, I just lost trust in them. From what I read the drakes feel that the ducklings are a threat to him and his ladies and that he thinks he is protecting his territory. I really hope it isn’t common for call duck drakes to do this b/c I was hoping I could leave my drake with them for once, I really think it mostly has to do with the individual duck not the breed.

I will be getting call ducks next spring and was wondering if you had any pictures of you pens? They look really nice from what I can see in these pictures.

Hello again! Well an update on my baby call is that she is still super far behind the other baby...the good news is that just yesterday she began walking better, and I also think she grew, not a lot but some at least. I have had her on antibiotics in her water for 7 days, and have been feeding her probiotics. However I guessed on the dose of antibiotics so they are not exact. I did separate her because she could not keep up with mom and sibling, and was not walking normal so was getting stuck on her back constantly. I have had her separate for a week now and in the last 2 days these good changes have been taking place. During this time I was giving her exercise by letting her swim in the sink. Now today I took her out in the big pool and let her swim with mom and sibling for a little while and she just loved it. However walks better and does not get stuck upside down but still can not keep up with the 2. Anyways I attached two pics of her next to mom and sibling so everyone can see the significant difference in size and feathering. I have been trying everyone's ideas, and am hoping they are working! The only symptoms she seems to have are once in a while not all the time she sqeeks and bit when breathing like she slightly congested maybe and then her legs being a little off ( but the legs are improving). I just don't know what else to try...I bought a scale that weighs to the 0.01 oz so I can see if she is gaining anything (hard to tell when looking at her so much daily). I have tried finding a vet to look at her but seems like no vets have any ideas on ducks only one said she would look at her and she was going to charge me $60 to walk in the door not including any tests, exam, etc, and I would consider it except she says she has never done any work on ducks...so I really don't think she will be any major help. I am hoping the antibiotics and probiotics will help she will start to grow and improve...but I just don't have anymore ideas. Also was going to mention that they are 5 weeks old. If anyone has anything else please do share! Here are the pics!

Whites.
Since they have no set pattern they are a lot easier to breed.

That's what I was thinking. I didn't know if there were any littl issues with them. Call Ducks are a lot older than Ameraucanas so I assumed they had less problems
