Regarding my baby that wasn't growing normally...Today she can't walk normal!

She has acted 100% normal besides being small until today...any more suggestions?

I'm not sure what is wrong with her but my reccomendation would be to add probiotics and a tiny bit more niacin (brewers yeast) to her food. Also some electrolite water which can be found in stores. The probiotics should boost her immune system. A bacterial infection in the egg could have caused her to be small.

Where do I get these for the birds? Also how do I know an adequate dose? Should I separate her from her mother and sibling while I do this or is it ok for them to have this too? Thanks so much! I have been trying to find a vet around that would look at her and none of them have ever dealt with a duck. Also after I let them out of their pen and she swam for a little bit she can walk fine again....I'm so confused with this little girl

the probiotics would benifit all of them. If her size was due to bacteria being present in the egg, then probiotics should help. You can offer broken capsules over the food.

The niacin is just a sprinkle. All can be found at your local grocery store. you can also use plain yogurt to them as well. Just make sure you change it out so that they don't injest bad yogurt that has been sitting out.

Also, you can add two tbs of apple cider vinegar and a few cloves of garlic per gallon of water to thier feed. This is also immune boosting, and would help flush infection out of the system. If she is week then I would offer only her cooked yolk.

Do not seperate her unless you must as this would cause undue stress on her.

Now, the bacteria in the egg is just a guess. I believe only from my bit of experience and what you have mentioned that this is what it would be. It may be something else entirely. However, the instructions on what to give her are not only for this situation and will make you whole flock healthier!

Please let us know how it goes with her!

Hi all I just found this again and since I have more Calls I’m going to post lots of pics! I now only have three ducks b/c I sold all but one of my white Calls. I was hoping you guys could tell me what quality Angle, Pip and Millie are, like pet or breeder quality?

These are my newest Calls, they were supposed to be a Blue Fawn pair but the drake looks like a Grey

Here is the drake Pip, now he looks like a Grey call to me, am I right? The Blue Fawn duck is in front.

This is the only white call I kept, her name is Angle or Snow Ball from Hell

Does anyone know what would cause my black call ducks hens feathers to come in white? she is having some white feather come out in different places. She has always a a couple on her chest that we pluck before a show but now she has a lot more. She hasn't molted (from what I can tell) so I am trying to figure out why all the sudden she has these white feathers. I know there has to a white gene somewhere in her b/c the variety is still new and she produced a white duckling. Someone suggested usually a white feather would indicated there had been some damage like being pecked, they do live with the chickens but the chickens completely ignore them. Also, I would think the problem would be on her back not her breast and belly. We have had very high temps for a long period of time with no rain but they have access to water all day with an auto waterer which they (especially her) sometimes swims in!
