Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Yeah... He is a bit expensive though... If you drive to art he is dirt cheap! I have gone to him every july for two years and bought some good looking ducks for cheap! My greys were only 50 bucks from him and that was because he knew they were going to a good home and I drove so they were not being risked while shipping! He likes that mine have a pond to go into and because they go in an aviary can fly so if he ever likes one of his ducks and wants them to go to a good home he calls me. (He only did this once...)

[/quote]I've never lost a call duckling after hatch. That is ridiculous to think that it is no big deal that they have seizures. I highly doubt I'd ever go to then again for anything. Not thrilled with what I got health wise.

the silvers getting a bath.

They're BEAUTIFUL! I love the coloring of their bodies and their beaks! Absolutely stunning!

I have never seen that hoarders. Its on Netflix... I will have to look that one up. I wish we could do something about it as well... He told me he lost 300 ducklings to "water overdoses" last year.

I didn't know then.... I hadn't even bought the chocolates then. All I knew was that he was a breeder in Kentucky... I fell terrible about it now. I just don't know what to do. I bet he doesn't even know which ones are from me. And I don't have the money to buy them all....

Everyone, I deleted some threads here that might be offensive to breeders. I realize you are all passionate about your birds and any that might be mistreated. But can we get back to topic please? Sometimes these types of animal rights conversations flame up and arguments can ensue.

Thanks everybody and enjoy your flocks!

So I am curious about the color white in ducks. Do two whites always produce white? And is the term "split to white" used in ducks?

I've seen dominant white and recessive white in ducks both. Dominant white of course only requires I copy of white to make the bird white. Recessive takes 2 copies. So ideally a white white should make white regardless of whether it's dominant or recessive.
