Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

That is so cool. I am glad she lets you. For shows, do they get handled by the judges?

Yes the judges will pull them out of their cages spread their wings to check feather conditions make sure their butt is clean and look at their feet and legs. If the duck isn't willing to be handled and fights the judges can't get a good look and you can loose points. Not to mention its traumatic for the ducks which does not put them in the mood for further in cage judging

It's not quite like that here, at least not at the shows where the class that's being judged is large. The judges don't have time to handle every bird, but you have to cage train to be prepared for the handling in case the judges decide to do it. It depends a bunch on the person who's judging that class and how many birds they're judging. They occasionally pull a bird here or there out, but that's usually when they're on the fence about the ones they've already chosen and how to place those.

I didn't know they got handled like that. But it makes sense. And the cuties don't need stress if they don't like being handled. Sweet little things.

Heh, maybe Wobbles wouldn't be a good contender, then. He's fine with women, but he HATES men. I wonder why that could be. :p

Huh... Here i thought Hazel and Henry would be aggressive to the calls but now, I don't know what to think. I had Gidget and Gadget out for fresh air and greens today in the puppy pen we have. I let Hazel and Henry out of their enclosure and the boys as well. Went for our walk as usual. Walked by the call pen and Gidget and Gadget come to life! Henry was chasing the geese away from the pen. Pekin and call head bobbing and courting displays. Of course Henry will never get the chance. It was pretty cute.

Thank you Julie Bird! Pictures really do not capture just how small these ducks really are. And yes, I would say they are about the size of a pigeon.
You are right. They don't capture the smallness of these little things. I love that they are about the size of a pigeon. Sweet babies of the web footed kingdom.

That made me laugh and is soo fascinating. You've got a cool variety of sizes there with all your webs of duck/Goose.

Oh no. How is he towards Hils? My Mom's female shih tzu prefers men over women.

Well, if Hils would just assert his dominance over the lil' turd it'd be a different story! But Hils thinks he's just too delicate and won't do it!
