Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

I have almost the exact same cage for mine. Of course, it's just the two of them in there for the night. They have plenty of room and have adjusted well. They actually have more space then it looks like in the picture and being they just snuggle up together in a corner for the night, it works wonderfully. Mine has double doors so it might actually be bigger.

I just felt bad when he said that they had barely enough room to move around. :/ Two calls and a mallard sounds like a full house! What if I got a rabbit hutch and removed the wire bottom and added pine shavings? That'll fit in the bedroom, right?

I would think that would work depending on the size of your room. The hutches are pretty compact I believe. I agree with taking out the wire flooring. I have never liked the idea of ducks feet on wire, although I know a lot of people do it for easy clean up. I would rather change out pine shavings with some rubber gloves on. :)

Oh, me ether. My heart aches for factory-farmed ducks here in the U.S., they live on wire mesh and drink from rubber nipples their entire life, however short that may be :/ And that's why I can never eat duck! I used to love duck...I can find organic versions of every meat under the sun, but I have yet to find organic duck.

sweety check yourself i said i only put 3 in there so there would be plenty of room to move i didnt say anything about barely enough room.

Please don't call me "sweety", that's incredibly patronizing. And I quote:

I read that as "so they have just enough room to move". I apologize for misinterpreting your words.

ohh sorry it wasent meant to be in a negative context of any kind 'sweety ' is a sympathetic word to me and most people i know.

It was the "check yourself" part that made it sound condescending. so I thought that was your intent. And I apologize again if I sounded judgmental or accusatory. I was trying to frame the discussion in the context of my own spoiled lil' turds and wanting to make sure they are comfortable. After what just went down in the duck treats thread I'm kind of in defensive mode. Please forgive me. :/

Hey Amy, I've told you about Winter's pen. It's a rabbit hutch. It doesn't have a wire bottom, the bottom is plastic. And, it works wonderfully. It also has a top that can be closed or left open. If closed - it's dome shaped, so it's even more spacious. I have a puppy pad on the side with Winter's food and water with pet bedding on the side that she sleeps. We absolutely love it

And, there's a door that can be opened or closed on the front of the pen also. As you can see, in the picture, I have it opened. Winter likes to peek out and be photogenic (;
