Can call ducks be housed with larger ducks? And is it safe for them to free range during the day? I am considering getting one.

You can not house them with larger ducks. the larger ducks will step on them or try to mate with them and end up hurting or killing them. I've seen people do it but also seen their call ducks killed because of it. I free range mine while supervised. They are small with short legs so they can not run very fast as their main getaway would be flight but in order to keep then from flying off while free ranging you would have to clip their wings.

Call ducks are so cute! I love the pastel and snowy color varieties. Anyone else have a favorite?

Female call ducks are very very loud! We are having to give away our sweet sunshine and chirpy because its disturbing the neighbors. Keeping the beautiful male grey because he's quiet and stunning. We also raised them with larger ducks and go figure, sunshine, our tiniest, paired up with Honey, a jumbo Pekin. While they are very attached, Honey is a bit too much for the tiny girl. Taking them to my sisters pond. They are great swimmers. Yes, it's free range and somewhat wild, but its the only option.

Where are you located? Of you put them on a pond i doubt they will survive the winter. domestic raised ducks don't typically fare well in the wild. I sure someone locally could take them in where they would be safely penned.

Thanks, they do have a shelter and have kept other ducks. We had built an aviary and they are quite happy, but my neighbor is having a fit over them.

If they do have a place for them to stay and no neighbors to complain then it sounds like it would work it great. I know our neighbors complained over my calls but we were there first and there is no laws saying anything about noise or animals. I'm sorry you can't keep them, we love our little calls.

Good morning all. My name is Crystal. I have had call ducks for about 3 years now. We have pastels and just got a trio of Whites. I LOVE THEM!!!

The above pastels are for sale and looking for a new home before winter.

Sorry the pic isnt the best. but here are our whites. I am looking forward to watching them grow.
