I wish BYC would allow me to post pictures from my phone. I had some call ducks hatch today and you can tell the difference between the ducklings that are out of my show quality drake and the ones that aren't. They are visibly smaller and have shorter legs.

Only the girls "quack". Mine usually start around 6-8 weeks old.

Yep. Yes, both genders peep when they're young. As they get older the females "quack" pretty loudly while the boys tend to just "chatter"

about 5-6wks you start hearing but it can be sooner.. the drakes voice starts to take a raspy direction, the females a full on quack.. and then they almost never learn to turn it off

I have VERY talkitive girls here.
