He's just like any other teenaged drake. The little ******* finally managed to break skin the other day too, he's suddenly decided he hates the color orange and so whenever I go to pick up my vitamin bottle he goes bonkers and bites at my hands!

Oh man. Ouch. I hope his aggression wears off as he matures. Is that behaviour common for young drakes? Little goober of cuteness!!

Well you did just say he's like other teenaged drakes so that answers my question then. So, is it hormones? Guess you'll have to handle that orange bottle out of his sight.

I've raised 4 drakes, and none of them were anything other than sweet as pie... :/

I have no experience with ducks at all so I am just asking questions out of curiosity. Could it be that ducks, like people, just have unique personalities and temperaments?

If you read the duck hatching/raising threads, you'd know that teenagers can be VERY rowdy! It's purely hormonal and usually doesn't last longer than a couple of months. Wobbles just hit 5 months so he's smack in the middle of puberty.

3 of mine are exactly that age! Oh geez!

I don't notice any change really though, maybe I'm just lucky.

Ha, only time will tell! Wobbles was a lil' cutie patootie, always snuggling up with me and scrambling up on my chest to take naps, and then just this month he began getting nippy and standoffish. It's totally normal for drakes at this age. If he were part of a flock rather than a house duck he'd be vying with the other males for dominance. The hormonal thing is only temporary, in a few months he'll be past his little rebellious phase...fingers crossed.

He sounds just like the phase small and very young children go thru. But despite his new behaviors are you still at all able to hold him?
