Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Awesome and beautiful! I hatched 4 ducklings, 10 days ago, that are Swedish. I think one will be black, one blue, and 2 splash. I think. Their bills are every variation,1 solid black, 1 solid yellow, and 2 speckled (one a lot more than the other). Their feet/legs are also the matching variations of their bills. Such beauties. I'm glad I chose them. Can you tell me anything about sexing them? I didn't try vent sexing. Do the females quack louder than the males?
Mine don't quack much but when they talk they sound like all the other girls - clear and resonant. If all you have are Swedish, I'm sure one will be the spokes duck and will Quack fairly frequently but in my flock that honor goes to one of the runners. I would imagine that the boys also sound "normal" which is to say like someone shoved a kazoo down their throats but my drakes are limited to 1 Rouen and 1 White Crested. By the time anything else happens (bill color for the blue or head color for the black) I think you would be looking at drake feathers.

Aww beautiful

. Yea they have lived together and do great together. My one duckling we call jumper because he likes to jump up to greer us has stumped me his yellow is his entire chest and belly and his yellow around his eyes are like circles I really thought he was a Swedish but now I don't think so since he's getting white on the back of his neck I guess I'll just have to wait and see when he's grown. I'm not looking forward to moving them outside they have been a lot of fun having inside. None have much feathers yet mostly just little tail feathers and I can feel where there body down is changing but jumper is outgrowing the tub. We got them mainly for pets and hopefully eggs we don't know gender yet. One of my runners is starting to make a kind of quack sound everyone else still chirps

Great. Thank you. My last one to hatch seems to lag behind the other 3 a little, but between the 3, they all seem to take the lead at different times. But I think the spokes duck will eventually be the black one. These are my first ducklings, although I've been around alot of my sister in laws, so I'm not sure what you mean by drake feathers. The tail turned up? When might those be obvious?

They really seem to love each other and seem to take care of the 2 small ones I am very shocked at how jumper has outgrown everyone he is huge even compared to the 2 runners they were all about the same size. Only the 2 runners make a sort of quack sound the others sounds like a whistle and chirp. I'm not sure how old they were when I got them at tsc and they had no idea what kind, they said jumper was probably a Swedish 1 khaki Campbell and the other a Swedish 2 but its very obvious 2 are runners with there skinny bodies. And really breed doesn't matter much as long as they're healthy and happy.

Drakes' tails usually have a curly feather or two or in Kaine's case 3. He started to get his drake feathers around week 11/12 and Tevye was about a month later (Tevye only has 1). Voice sexing should be possible well before that.

We just had a discussion on vent sexing ducks over on the House Ducks thread. Let me fetch the thread link...

Actually I saw it and watched the Metler video. I just don't think I'm ready for that yet. But I may try one of them and see how it goes.

I just looked back & it was actually on this thread a page or 2 back...lol

Oh, no wonder I saw it! Lol
I just tried checking one and it opened up pretty easily, so I tried the rest. I think, think.. I have 2 boys, 2 girls. They were pretty calm for it, which surprised me. Might try again tomorrow to verify.
