Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

aw, so sweet! i miss call babies. None this year.

Thanks. This will be the first allowing a momma to raise the ducks. Usually I brood them myself until they're 5-6 weeks old. I wasn't planning on raising any call babies this year so when I found the hidden nest I moved her and the nest into the coop. The only ones that use the 8 ft coop are the 3 bantam chickens that are in there to scratch the top soil :) I put up a 1 ft panel across the bottom of the door so the babies can't get out but momma who can fly can still get out to the run and pools. We'll see how she does.

Nah, he sleeps diaper-less in a repurposed storage bin at night with some towels. Bean's brooder is on the bed and his box is on the floor right beneath it, so they can hear each other.

Speaking of Bean, you should get a kick out of this. :p

Awesome vid! As for Bean being small. Ebony, one of our first brood runners, Was very constipated when we got her. We had to work with her a lot to get the eat drink poop cycle going. By the time she was OK, she was a week behind the rest of the flock. When they stopped growing and started feathering, she caught up in weight but by the time they were feathered, she had just started. It wasn't like she was stunted... she was just a week behind. Maybe that is the same with Bean.

I sure hope so. She got plugged up when she was sick too 'cuz she wouldn't eat and the only thing coming out of her was foam. My poor baby!

We can tell she's growing, but she's still so, so tiny for a 10-day old duckling. We'll know more when she goes in for her follow-up appointment on Thursday where they can weigh her and see her progress. I'm baking cookies for the vet staff, it's the least thing I can do for the folks that watched her 24/7 and saved her life!

Oh, this never gets old. I am in love with Bean.

So this duckling who I was wondering what color she'd end up being, I mean I really had no idea.

Turned out to be a beautiful Snowy hen. Please remember I have Aussie calls not US or UK calls to work with :)

She is absolutely beautiful in her coloring. And to add, she's cute of course!! Her coloring reminds me of my friend's Welsh Harlequin's coloring. Cool….
