For some reason I could totally see her doing that to Walk like an Egyptian. The way her head moves with the way you move her body. I'm weird though! Lol!

Hi guys

so i have alot of news ( and ill have pictures of this news up later today

The aviary is almost done ( if anybody knows how to get a good pool drain installed pm me btw )

little pebbels is my smallest call duck, his feathers have begun to curl on his tail and he is still smaller than his girlfriend bambam

everybody is in full flight now but they are getting their toenails caught in everything since they are kinda long , does anyone know how to clip them without any pain?

Bam bam is getting a strange coloring, she is supposed to be white, but then she began turing into the snowy color and is literally caught between a full white body and a tan head and there is no way she is of mixed color since the breeder had different aviaries for every color.

There is less picking on each other i think which i am really happy about since my little one legged black carrier mallard doesnt need to be getting picked on.

I'm relatively new to ducks, but Crashie's nails did the same thing at some point, and I just clipped them like I would anything else. Her nails are white/clear, which helps a lot to avoid the quick. If you can see the quick, just clip where you won't hit it. If not, probably just gradually clip them down until they're short enough not to hook as much. I held Crash in one hand and clipped with the other. She didn't seem to notice and moved on with lap time right afterwards, so I must have done something right.

I'm still trying to convince her she belongs outside... Sigh. Her parents were traumatized last week because their pool split, and I only had a small pink princess pool to replace it at the time. You'd've thought I put a rabid raccoon in the pen with them! They wouldn't even come out of their coop for two days! I finally had to take them and put them in the water before Malcolm was like, "Oh, hey, water!" And then Trudi followed suit. Silly ducks!

Honestly, this is something you really need to stay on top of from the get-go. If they continue to grow their quick can creep into the nail shaft since there's no friction or anything keeping the nail short, so the body adjusts. You're gonna have to bite the bullet and you'll probably see blood the first couple times you clip them. It's a two-person job, at least for me. I use those special doodads you can buy at Petco specifically designed to clip kitty claws, they seem to work real well! Keep some liquid bandage or quik-stop on hand and you're good to go.

CUTENESS-INDUCED HYPERVENTILATING COMMENCING IN 3....2...1....

....And I'm back. I'm okay, just a bit light-headed. It's so cute/sad how terrified they are of new things! Poor Bean takes it to the max. She was scared of watermelon. Watermelon. Poor thing still won't go anywhere near it unless I cut it into tiny, non-threatening niblets for her.
