I dunno but Henry had three at one point. One lage one and two little off to the side ones, and let me tell you... Once those came his whole attitude changed! He has it out for me BAD!!! He will pace his enclosure when I come out to do yard work or just come to say hi. When I get close the little turd leaps up at me face. That's just when I am outside the pen! When I am in there he attacks me with every ounce of feathered courage he has. Thankfully, he is pretty good to Hazel after morning rounds in their pool... I'm hoping my sweet boy makes his apperance again soon!

Yowza. Is he protecting Hazel? So does he not let Jack handle him anymore then if he is like that? How are Gidget and Gadget?

Funny, I had heard of ducks developing a drake feather in the absence of a drake (usually the dominant one) and they would be the ones to mount the other ducks. I wonder if it was just timing? Was #4 fairly dominant? Maybe she "decided" to take over the flock and by the time her feather manifested, Bean was already there...

OK, who is the super rich person on these forums who can fund an independent study on the significance and formation of the "drake" feather. If I curl several of Tevye's tail feathers with a curling iron will he get more aggressive? If I straighten Kaine's will he mellow out? What if I just yank them out? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh Henry only has it out for me. He is sweet to everyone else, and I mean EVERYONE else! He loves Jack. I think he is madly in love with me... lol! His love hurts though. Gidget and Gadget are doing really well. They don't really like being handled much though. They squirm the whole time. In the morning when I go into their room to get them and ask them if they want to go outside they get so excited! I was hoping by having a phrase they recognize before handling them it would help them realize it's not such a bad thing. They actually seem somewhat cooperative now. I think I may have an unusual pair of calls... They are NOT loud whatsoever. I have heard Gidget do her "joker" laugh a handful of times. Once was in the middle of the night and being they are normally really quiet, it scared me so bad I jumped! Lol

Amykins says Bean does the joker laugh too. I would be startled at night as well.

Do you think Henry will calm down towards you with winter or will his hormones cause him to act as he does with you permanently? I mean, he is so cute and I imagine you would wanna hold him like Jack does?

Poor little pebbles lol he is so small that his wings weigh him down and make him so unblanced. today he would get up then fall to his left then balance and then lean to his right it took him 5 minutes to balance out his wings , I really hope he grows into them

Wobbles did the same thing. I'd clip them if I were you, the poor guy could become injured if he keeps holding it like that. Removing the extra feather weight will help him to hold his wings properly. Worked for Wobs!

ohh i do plan on clipping his wings defiently lol. they re still blood feathers though and ive benn waiting to clip them for a while now i just want my little one to be okay, he sure likes the bath though lol he is drying iff in the picture and all that extra weight from the water i had to carry him back to his pen but it was super cute.
