How much do they weigh when they hatch? 25 grams? Just curious...

What the size range of call duck eggs? In my flock of peafowl the smallest I've seen is 86 grams, largest was125 grams. Do calls vary the same way? Again, just curious.

Yep, they vary too... my Snowy lays a consistent 45 to 48g, max... most of my flock ranges from 48 to 54g... the smaller the egg, the harder to get it to hatch as well... 45g is about the smallest I think I've successfully hatched...
Interesting... Have a hard time hatching the smaller pea eggs, too. Thanks!

Well, I'd say it's hard to make a blanket statement like that with any breeds... size at hatch also depends on egg size each hatched from... and I've seen small Calls lay bigger eggs, and bigger Calls lay smaller eggs...
Also, there is BQ to consider as well... technically, a Call can only be called SQ if it has been entered into a show and has won in any placing...
This is why I don't label any of mine SQ, as I don't show... and most of mine would be considered BQ anyways... you can get a SQ from BQ or PQ birds, and you can get BQ or PQ from SQ as well... proper evaluation of quality can't be determined until they reach juvenile molt...
I have a very PQ drake that does throw a lot of big offspring, but occasionally he throws an odd color and each one so far has grown out super tiny... it's all about time and selectively breeding towards proper size and type...
Sorry for the soapbox, but that's my interpretation of quality...![]()

Anytime!
But this is just my experience so far... others may have different... but I think there is such a thing as too small... small Calls started as an anomaly, we made it a requirement...
If you want some baby weights, I have some 2 day olds right now and more hatching tomorrow... I can run some weights if you're interested...
But... for some reason, I thought you had Calls?? Just curious too, lol...
Oh, and wanted to say thank you for the tubing help and update that the hawk injured Call is now eating on her own!! She still has major issues, but progress has been steady and she is one heck of a fighter!!
I just hope Cal is growing as he should be, he seems awfully TINY. Winter is either PQ or BQ but even with that being said she was two maybe even three times his size at the age his is. She also had almost all her feathers at this point, whereas he still barely has any.
So glad to hear she's doing a little better! Was afraid to ask if you know what I mean. What major issues?
No Calls here, though I would like to get some.
Would be very cool if you could get some weights on them... Might be useful to have that kind of data.
