Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Thank you so much for the info! I have adjusted my forced air Hovabator 1588 to 100F, a .9 of a degree increase! Hopefully it will positively affect future hatches! What type of incubator do you have?

I have a Leahy redwood cabinet, that one I run at 100 and 2 Genesis Hovabator 1588's, those I run at 100.5... the styros lose heat easy so I tend to run them just a touch higher...

Hi everyone! So today was the day that unexpectedly my duckling hatched! After not thinking it would die to low humidity problems. Anyway the little one is out. Only problem is his foots a bit bent, but I've already put a boot on it. What vitamins should I be giving it? Last year I had problems with the ducks as they got older from vitamin deficancy. I would like to get on top of things! So what would be the best vitamins to help his foot and growing?

Hi my eggs are on day 26 and I put them on lockdown day 23. I turned the temp down to 98 is that too low??? The humidity is up to 60% but is 98 degrees too low?

Ducks get niacin deficiencies which is what causes the leg problems... if you can get Brewers yeast (not baking yeast) sprinkle a tblsp per cup of feed and mix in... or niacin tablets, I think Bcomplex are best... crush them and dissolve in the water... I think you want 150mg niacin per gallon of water... good luck with the little one!

Alrighty I'll be going to the feed co-op tomorrow and thank you anything else?

It's the morning of day 27 in the bator for my calls and there is no progress in external pipping... I'm worried because I thought that on day 23 that the temp gets turned down to 98.... Was I wrong??? HELP PLEASE

Feed stores often do not have these things - places where they sell vitamin supplements for humans often are more likely to carry them - call ahead if you can.

Haha yes I work at a place that sells vitamins. I have vitamin B and niacin on hand already. But I need to get feed so I have to go out anyway
