Good to see you zook, and congrats on all the eggs, someone is really over zelous about the size of them too. goodness.
That's alot of rain at one time. and alot of eggs too. Hope everyone will be safe and not wash away.14 Tuesday, 16 yesterday, 15 so far today (10;15A), I have some late layers here. Everyone has heard about the California droughts, we are just starting a winter storm that is supposed to drop 7" of rain over the next 60 hours.
zook why don't you want them mating? That was a shocker for sure to see that in the nest box. A 6oz + duck egg is a tad big to lay. poor thing. Thinking I have to move the Khaki Campbell girls because I think the Muscovy drake is breeding them by the looks of the thinning neck feathers on the girls. I've never seen mating but sometimes the muscovies are breeding at first light.
your going to have lots of babies running around this spring. Can't wait to see the pics.well i got another mallard egg today no muscovy eggs so now my mallard hen has 3 eggs in her nest box and i also have a broody turkey on 17 eggs now i just have to wait on my mallard to go broody cant wait for them to all hatch
I want some muscovies to set on eggs and sometimes its hard to tell KC from Muscovy eggs as they are sorta similar in shade. So a clutch would have a mix of eggs possibly. I didn't want KC eggs to hatch and the muscovy eggs a few days later and mom leaves the pure muscovy eggs if she thinks they aren't going to hatch when the hybrids hatch sooner or so research says. With everybody laying in the same nests it could get confusing. I'd just as soon have a KC drake and separate everybody.zook why don't you want them mating?
