Daily Duck Egg Report

Here is what was in that huge 170 gram egg. was going to give my dog a treat and cracked it in the fry pan. Out cae a yolk and egg white and another whole duck egg with a compete shell. I cracked that one and it had a normal yolk and egg white inside. So the dog got a real treat tonight. Pretty surprising seeing that egg fall into the pan.

Getting about 3 a day, I know they are from the pekin crosses. Muscovy doesnt lay - but steals eggs to sit on - I think shes quite old.

Heres a twister for ya. When I got my call ducks it was mummy and 4 lils. The mother duck started laying little eggs, so different to the ones Im used to. I knew there were 2 drakes in the mix. I sold one only to have the fella tell me once he got it home it was female. I took a look at my lil ducks and thought, gee, I think I mixed them up and gave him the mother duck!

The mother was young herself and going through some colour changes - they have mallard in there Im sure - so I realized Ive mixed her up with the drakes. Two started acting drake like. So the guy brings back 'mother duck' and I give him a drake. He says its definitely a drake.

Now 'mother duck' is not laying eggs and is acting like a drake. What the hells going on?

A runner started laying - apparently yesterday, as I found first one egg, then another. The "another" was hidden in the recesses of a little nook I inadvertently made by the way I stacked bales of shavings. That has been adjusted so it will be easier for me to gather eggs from that area. The more hidden one had much more bloom on it, like a start-up egg. What I think is the second one is the same size, shape, and color with less bloom.

A buff also laid an egg, don't know if it was Carmella or Hazel. I hope Carmella, I want Hazel to take a well-deserved rest.

I am always so grateful for an egg. Takes a bunch of work to do that, and it is something I sure cannot do!

well i went out to the duck coop last night and found 3 little hidden egg well not little egg they was big as my chickens eggs i thought they was not going to lay any more for awhile no they just tricked me lol going to see if i cant find another one there this morning

well i got my assortments of polish and cochins in today the polish looks so funny while thy are little i did have 2 that didnt make it but things happen and it was cold the day they shipped them i got 14 out of 16 but i got 2 free chicks when i order for 16 but only pay for 14 i also candled the turkey egg my male turkey was not breeding my other female so that means not baby turkeys but i got 2 more ducks egg and i got my new baby chicks
