Hi, the post before me are almost 2 yrs old. If anyone is reading this post, my Q is: can an Indian Runner hen lay 2 eggs per day? I have been finding 2 eggs in her nest each morning. I have 2 runners, I assumed I had a drake & a hen. I have been palpating them each night & I am feeling an egg inside the duck I think is the hen & I am not feeling any egg inside the duck I think is the drake!
I am going to desperate them to be real sure.
My ducks are 9 months old. I have been getting 1 egg each day until one week ago, I started getting 2eggs each day.

The duck in the back is the one I feel an egg inside her each night& her voice is not as loud as the other duck. The duck in the front is bigger, darker & I do not feel an egg inside. His/her voice is louder!?!?
Here r pics of my 2 runners & the eggs I have collected in the past week. Can u see the difference in the shape & color? The ones on the right are how she has been laying for months. The ones on the left are the ones that have been different shaped. For the past week I have been getting one of each every morning!? Maybe I do have 2 females? Can it take 5 months for the other duck to start laying eggs? Is she a late bloomer?
The duck that I have felt an egg inside her, she did get mauled by a neighborhood dog one month ago, would this have anything to do with the hen laying two eggs a day? Maybe due to stress?

Those are girls. You will hear a big difference in them if one is a boy. Some ducks take longer to lay than others but 5 months is in the normal range. A male will have a curl in their tail as well. Size isn't really an indicator nor is color for fawn and whites.
 
Thank you "needlessjunk". I did seperate them last night & only got one egg from the smaller duck, the one I have been feeling an egg inside her. So I know for sure she is a female. I will seperate them again each night until I do or do not get an egg from the other duck. Thank you everyone for helping me with this issue, I really appreciate your comments.

Now, if I do want a drake, in the future, where could I find one? Any suggestions?

Hi, I separated my ducks & found out I have 2 hens! YA! But also Boo! Because I wanted to hatch their eggs! Does anyone know where I can buy a drake, Indian Runner? I live in Idaho! I am looking locally & online, any suggestions? Thank you!
Congrats Amanda Virus on ur egg, r u going to hatch it, or did u already?
