Dairy Goat and 2014 Kidding!

Just had two more have triplets, undecided if they can handle all of them or not. Will see if I can get some pictures of the little monsters, have to start passing out ear tags and shots to some of the older-ish ones first though. Its chaos around here. I think I'm up to 22? I don't even know haha. So much for them being spread out a little.

That's how all my kids came this year.. all but 1 doe kidded within a few days. It was a mess for awhile. Fortunately, most of my Sables looked different, lol.

I had that happened with the last two I had have babies about 1 week apart n they all looking alike even the mom look alike but that's bc there sisters

So last evening I ended up having three sets of triplets,

. Only three left to go though! Ups to 24 of the little guys.

Sad news though, the kid I started bottle feeding didn't make the night, mama was laying on him this morning

Ended up with 29 kids, 14 bucklings and 15 doelings. Pretty good odds this year for only have 13 does. I am currently bottle feeding three, one of my triplet moms rejected one and my first mama that had twins went crazy? she just flat out does not want anything to do with either of her babies, and they were starting to fade pretty fast. All three took to the bottle right away and definitely have a new hop in their step.

Kind of forgot about this thread. Here's an update on my goat her status if anyone is interested!

All babies are doing very well! Going to officially wean them from mamas this weekend, going a little longer than I should have but have been busy getting fencing done so that I will have two pastures. Oh the horror.... The mamas I think will be secretly glad but I know there will be some very sad faces from the babies and I'm sure they will voice their disapproval about it too.

I've given keeping dairy goats more thought, almost what... 5 months, and have decided I still really want to do it. So the last couple weeks I have been searching for a doe and think I may have found one! I get to get see her this weekend! I was able to visit another dairy goat farm and got to try some milk (I was kind of skeptical); it turned out great! Already made a milking stand and have been collecting supplies.

Can't wait for the weekend!
