I have a male and female saanen goats about 5 mos old, that I keep with 25 chicks. I just sesparated the female and male goats so that she wouldn't get pregnant too soon. But I don't have any place to separate the goats from the chickens. I was told that they would be fine together. They get along fine but the goats keep eating the chicken feed and the other way around. I just started put the chicks on layers pellets because their 5 months old now. I don't know if the feed is ok for the goats or the other way around. The chickens seem to eat about anything.

Thanks Pepper

the chicken feed can and will kill your goat. not to mention chickens carry several types of bacteria which can be fatal to goats, particularly young ones.

figure out some way of separating them

I moved into my home 2 years ago and immediately got goats and chickens... and Immediately realized , there's a problem!!! The goats willl find a way into that coop no matter what you do!
And, yes, the chix feed is not good for the ol' goats!.. You just have to improvise!.. I've got 2 different pasture sections.. one with my buck and wether and a very well built chicken coop door!! Although, it took me about a year to finally build a solid door because my buck would finaggle his horns in any crevice possible to open the previous doorS!

.. and out in the barn I've got some banty's with baby chicks and luckily i've got built in dividers in the barn ( there from the previous owners!,,thank goodness!) So, my does can't get in there to the feed. You can raise them together , I feel, but just make sure the chix feed is in a designated spot.. one that the goats can't get in but the chickens can... just be creative!.. and Good Luck!
