One of my young Seramas (approx. 2 1/2 months) got stuck between the dog kennel and the wall. I think one of the big ones may have chased him in there. I found him stuck and when I unstuck him and got him out, I saw that his right eye is damaged. I can't tell if the eye is still there or not. Either he hurt it on the wire from the kennel or one of the chickens took advantage of him being stuck and pecked his eye.

Use some warm, wet compresses to try to loosen any gunk and get the eye open so you can see it. You can use sterile saline or veterycin eye wash to flush it out if needed, to make sure there is no debris in there. If needed you can use plain neosporin or terramycin eye ointment (available at most Tractor Supplies and Feed stores in most states- you may have to ask them for it) in the eye twice a day.

Thanks, that is good to know. He is the sweetest chicken I have, him and his sister. Maybe because they were brooded by a Silkie...

After eyes become pecked or injured, the conjunctiva or pink surrounding tissue swells, so it may be a couple of days to see if the eye is intake. Hopefully, cleaning and applying the eye will prevent any visual loss.
