Hello all,
Today I noticed my young chicken had what I thought was a pecked out eye. After irrigating it I could see the eye itself was still there but perhaps detached. The whole side of its right head is swollen. I went to get Terramycin and applied it tonight. It has been separated from the flock. It is still pecking around/ eating and drinking. I was also going to buy pen. g but it weighs maybe 2 lbs which according to the box would have been .02 ml of solution. I couldn't get a syringe that was small enough to accurately measure it. I attached a picture of the eye. Someone told me it looked like a respiratory infection. The eye itself isn't cloudy and is below the eyelid in the picture where the budge is.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I wonder if the eye needs to be removed or if it will heal.
Thank you,
Betina
