I have the Eglu Cube with attached run and extension. It is covered in plastic. This keeps the rain and snow out and I am trying to use the deep litter method. When we have wet weather though the shavings feel damp. I am assuming this is simply coming from the earth. I was wondering if anyone has used the Dry Stall or Best Pine products to keep their bedding dry? They say it is permanent yet safe for composting?

Do you mean that you're using deep litter in the run?

Edited to ask, how many chickens do you have in there?

If you pick up a handful of litter and it will barley stay together in a lump that is perfect dampness, if it falls apart immediantly or forms a
snow(litter)ball, then the litter is not right. I have never used those products but I just would replace the top inch or so every time I added more littter. Hope this helps,

I have six golden comets in there and am using the deep litter method in the run. So from what you are saying a certain amount of dampness is desireable?
