It's almost day 12 for me. I candled a few eggs tonight and saw lots of movement. That's a good sign, right? I could even see faint veins in dark maran eggs. It's exciting to actually understand what I see.

So my questions are:
How often can I candle?
Is movement in the egg on day 12 a good sign?
At this stage are they pretty likely to hatch safely?

Thanks!

Personally, I only candle twice. Once on day 10 and once at lockdown, or close to it. I try not to handle the eggs anymore than needed.

Movement is always good, and I am jealous, I never saw any move in mine, but they did hatch.

Here is a link that might give you some ideas about hatch day and what you can do to have a successful hatch.

Good luck, and have fun.

Movement's good, yeah- and I hear all about how you're not supposed to candle much so I'm pretty sure I should be more patient next time xD Once after the first two weeks and then once at lockdown are the usual. There could always be something that stops them from hatching otherwise, but if you stay on course, they'll likely hatch. I've had a few eggs stop developing around day 12 though.

That is GREAT!!! I am at the same stage as you with my eggs I am hatching. I think it is so neat to see them moving around in there. LOL I know you are not suppost to handle the eggs a lot , but I did have to take a peek again last night.
