Dang Crazy Hen....Nugget is REALLY Broody (BABY PICS! Three of 3 Out)

Two of the three eggs are pipped. The one I thought must be hatched already is still in the egg with a very large pip, about to zip. Day 21 has technically just begun.

I hear lots of cheeping under her, but other than Dusty, Nugget is the fiercest broody hen we've ever had. All the others have let us reach under them and raise them up to see, but not Nugget! I pity who or whatever tries to get at her babies!


ETA: First chick out...it's Meg's baby. Looks very light blue with reddish color on the head; at first I thought it was a splash with red. Still can't get close enough for pictures. Second egg is pipped, but the third egg is a straggler. Day 21 goes until after noon tomorrow.

Here it is! This little critter is out of my RIR/Buff Orp hen, Meg by by Suede. Nugget is very pleased. Look at that coloring!

It's darker than I first thought, but is sort of strawberry blonde underneath with a wash of blue down its back. Still only one other one pipped and one not, as far as we can tell.

So cute!!!! There is nothing cuter than baby chicks with their momma's. I have Lavender split ameraucana's under 2 broodies right now. I have 8 of 11 hatched so far with 2 more pipped. Congratulations!!!!!! I can't wait to see more pic's of your little ones.
