Sorry about your girl. Snakes will definitely go after any type of live prey...whether or not they can actually swallow it. I have a friend who had a rat snake go into her quail cage through the wire, then ate a quail and got stuck b/c he couldn't fit back through the wire. Serves him right.

Yikes, all we have are milk snakes and garter snakes, that seems soooo long

I'm so glad you posted this!

I just went out to feed my girls, and they were all acting really agitated and weird, and it made me think that maybe a snake or something had gotten in with them. And my husband said the same thing - snakes come after eggs. And my girls are only 7 weeks, so there are no eggs.

Any ideas on ways to keep them out? I mean like you can use moth balls to keep wasps away.......anybody have a good trick to keep snakes away?

I'm surprised you're asking for rain. Wish i could give you some of ours!
