We are having real bad water run off from our neighbor . He also has chickens I am wondering if all his run off could have an effect on the health of my chickens? Also it all goes into my fish pond which is 1/4 acre pond fully stocked.
I have shown him pictures of what it does to our property and the effect it is having on my pond.
But no response just yet , haven't seen him doing anything to detour the water from running on to my property.
Don't want to start a war with the neighbor , cause you know that never ends up well. He is far enough away that it doesn't matter if I make him mad, but really don't want to do that.

Exactly what is in the runoff?

If he has chickens and it is water from their range it can have a serious effect if they have any pathogens.

Perhaps you could build a lagoon/marsh/water garden where the water enters your property.
Or you could help him build one on his side of the property line the plants in there would tend to purify it.

We Just bought the property in November, apparently this has been going on even with the previous owners, They just didn't care about the outside or the pond . We have done a lot of work with the run off and our neighbor said he tried to divert the water.
We were up at his place the other day , ( we live at the bottom of a mountain and he is to the side of us but up above us) and he has cleared all of the property of trees and grass for his huge garden and also his chicken coops. which are small coops with only two Cornish in each pen. and a big one on the hill side coming down toward us. it all slopes toward us.
I did show him pictures the other day of the flood it caused on my property , my gravel drive ended up 50 feet down hill to the pond and we have just spent over a thousand dollars on gravel in the past few months we have a long drive that comes in one side of property and goes in front of the house and between the pond and out the other side of property. This was all to help with water run off and silt getting into our pond.
My husband and I are gonna work on our side of the property to slow it down and put in a pipe where it comes across the drive way. We are also going to put in terraces in the woods where is comes down and put in rocks and straw bales and silt screen up.
My husband offered to come up with the tractor and help with diverting the water further down his property where it would not be such a impact on our drive and our pond .
Yes I read the laws on water run off from your neighbor and it just sucks.......because a lot of this is not natural run off. We don't have the problem on the other side of the property and it is even steeper.
