Danish guy living in Sweden - introduction :)

Thanks again. His name is Holger :). I'm guessing you are a dog person, and have a few yourself?
Just 2, a west highland white and a little chihuahua-y mixed breed (mutt). I pretty much like and am interested in all animals. I've never seen a photo of animals online that I didn't like :D Holger Hund, good name (what's dog in Danish?). I might pinch that if I ever need a good online username.

2 dog - sounds like a handful :).

I just have the one dog, 23 chickens, and a shared cat. It just kinda strolled in one day, and didn't leave. He now gets food, and medical care when needed, from us, and all the neighbours, so now he is just considered a part of the community. Good way to have a cat that hates being indoors. No fuss when going away for a few day, since he will just go to the next door to eat. Somewhat of a freeloader, since he doesn't eat mice, but then again, he doesn't eat chicks either, so fair play. The chickens eat all the mice anyway, so it's all good.

You are absolutely right. A dog is called a "hund" in Danish. Holger Danske (Holger Danish directly translated) was our founding king way back when, and it was the de facto name for the Broholmer dog breed in the royal families. So kind of unoriginal, but since everybody else are breaking with tradition when it comes to names, we decided to keep it classic :).

It's not when they are good dogs, but my new rescue dog is definitely a handful. (He's around 6 but obviously has never had any training.) My 2 little ones probably wouldn't eat as much as yours. He looks like he'd need a decent-sized dinner:D

Ha! I was just throwing in some german because I like the alliteration of Holger Hund, I really had no clue what it was in Danish.
I must look up some portraits of the Danish royal families, to see if their dogs are in them. Very good looking dogs.

A rescue. That's admirable - not like me who payed through the nose to get this specific breed. Next time i will buy a mud :).

And yes - he eats about 1 kg of raw food each day - so i'm glad i have a good connection that can hook me up with all kinds of intestines. The chickens enjoy it too.

And with the help of google translate, you might be able to decipher some of the history of the Broholmer. If not - you can see the pictures of the evolution http://www.verasir.dk/show.php?file=chap35-25-2.html

Thank you. I'll have a better look through later. I knew that dog would look good in artwork. Soooooo handsome and impressive. Obviously "part of the family" for many people for hundreds of years.
