Here's Georgette, my female. According to McMurray she's a Belgium D'Anver, but the pics that Nottingham show of a Dun makes me think she's one of them as well. Anyone care to comment?

yep shes a quail d'anver for sure. In no way a dun quail though, myself and the man I got them from are the only ones in the US with them, just started selling a few this year so no way hatcheries have them yet.

The black areas on the quail you have will be chocolate to slate colored in the duns with no shine or blackness to them at all.
best visible in full on adult color, and as chicks.

But you can see in Nottingahms pic that on her birds backs, where the dark color is, it has not iridescence, and is a smokey chocolate.
I have their parents pictured a few pages back, on the hens especially , you can see the color difference pretty well

OMG, I think they are sooooo nice. I am so glad to have a boy too. Tonight we had a huge storm roll in quickly and I went out to the coops to check everyone and batten down the hatches and I was cuddling with him. I have yet to name him though. I'll work on that. Cannot wait to see what my trio produces

My modem was fried by lightning on July 4th so took awhile for them to send a new one. Anyway, here are a few of the monsters today.
