Hi All, I have lurked over here for awhile now. Seem to know you, but didnt have any D' anvers yet, so have just been listening. Well Last Tues. 14 D'anvers arrived from BBB. I now feel like I can participate over here. WE did loos one chick the next day, the rest seem to be doing well. A couple are not growing as fast, so keeping a close eye, but I really like these fuzy faced cuties.
Thanks, quail is on a columbian base, so on the males it's common to see traces of the pattern, especially as they mature.
As a chicks, yes they should be solid black with just a white cheek pattern
On the hens theres a big difference, but on the males, they will be largely white of course when they are done.
They look normal to me so far.
the columbian chicks will also look totally different, more a smokey grey cast over white body. Some still have a similar pattern, but once bred columbian to columbian that quail down color goes away and they get really pale in over all color
Well Said, too funny!Poor mechanic didn't even know what hit him. You probably have him so cowed down, he'll be looking out from under his clipboard for the rest of the day at folks, LOL !
