d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

now how bout sending some of those blue silvers on down!!! LOL
All I have right now is about 8 pullets, 4 of which I like. But I kept some extras in case I loose some over winter. They don't have quite the type of my quail or silver quail because they came from those splash quail hatchery birds I had. Hope to make them alot better next year. If they get through the winter Ok, I could send you a couple of pullets in the spring. I know you got some good stuff to put with them.

Now what can I do with one cuckoo cockerel? Only other barred birds I have are the crele.

The color on him I love, that's a beautiful bay breast on him, and the blue looks really good, not one of those washed out blue quail you often see.
I have been getting rid of those washed out looking ones all summer. I have 3 that look like this one. They just stood out among the rest. You can see the lacing in the bay like the standard says. The others looked like a blue bird with a coat of rust on them. This one does have a lot better posture than the picture shows. With my camera I have to get too close to take a good picture and they won't stand natural. Thanks for the critique, I learn more from them than just looking a pictures. This evening I will get some pictures of the blue silvers and you can tell me what you think.

Hi, d'Anvers folks!

I've been out giving the d'Ans a pre-show bath and it made me wonder… Do any of you have a suggestion for keeping the roosters from messing up their wing tips? I have kept them on both dirt and shavings. They seem to have frayed wing tips either way.

sounds good, even next fall would be fine, just keep me in mind. I'm gone try dun versions next spring and let the blue ones rest since you have those, maybe we can just swap some then. Still working on the lavender versions too, got really nice typed F1's, it's just being a " lottery game" on getting the right chicks bcak on them but I'll get 'em eventually.

On the barred, I wouldnt use him to any of the crele for sure, breed them to gether or a male to a bb hen to help the color like we were talking about earlier.

As for the cuckoo though, what colors you want to bar up??? LOL

I been wanting to try a barred mille personally just to see what it would look like, got to be weird looking for sure.

If you want some cuckoos to work with and have blacks, or blues, just breed him to one of them, they'll all be single factored barred if he's a double factored male. Or you can make my lavender barred off a lavender, just back breed the cuckoo chicks.

Just all depends, you can bar anything. I like it. Going for barred buff here in the next year or two. Just got helped out with some project buff. Plan to get them right then start playing with them.
Been really needing them for a lot of projects, with work, that's where you can get some really deep red pattern birds, as well as the lemon cream color....like lemon cream milles!!!

look forward to it.

and yep I kinda though he looked freaked by you being in there with them. Took thousands of pics so I know how they act around a camera. They just know when you want them to look pretty... haha

and yep you can certainly tell a difference in those washed down blues... got 'em here too, just part of it with blue dilution. Your's is the color I prefer to breed with for sure on them

yep with their normal posture, the wing tips often drag like a strutting turkey.
I like to keep thick hay or shaving beds in the pens with them. I never have time for shows, so it really doesnt bother me on mine, but the softer you can keep the ground under them, the less the wear. Sand or thick bedding will help

good luck

Blue Silvers

Some of them have aliddle red on them must be autosomal red because silver pullets can't have a gold gene. Had to come from the rooster (He had rusty looking shoulders) because some of my silver quail pullets have it too. Should be easy to get rid of when I cross them with a clean male.

Some times they pose

Finially this Boggy Bottom Bantam bird is looking better all the time.
