d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Hope you can find some in your area.

The eggs are on Day 13. I've finally tossed the last two that I confirmed had started but didn't continue development so there are still the 14 with bouncing babies in them at this point. Mina has gone broody. And it's 7* this morning. Great timing, Mina.

Not sure she's getting eggs, though, certainly they'd be LF eggs, of which she can only cover 2-3 due to the size of these. At least the one time she managed to hatch chicks, the last broody spell, she was a great mom.

14 that's great. I guess Ran needs to get coop building. He already has two in the works for my Silkie and Polish. I've already been thinking up the plans using the kids old swing set as a frame.

Of course, though 14 are going strong now, they may not all hatch. I'm hoping at least 10-12 do, though. I have to get the plastic and wire rabbit cage up here and set up in the living room. It's in the basement on top of the dog kennel that Isaac is in, warming up after being outside on my deck for a couple of months. I'll have to swipe a heat lamp for the chicks from my old hens since all my reptile bulbs are being used. So, we should start having pips within a week.

Will anyone in the Seattle area have d'anver hatching eggs for sale later this spring?

I am in Anchorage. But cannot guarantee dates. I have CUCKOO from Boggy Bottoms.

I'd like to hatch 1/2 dozen lavender, blue, porcelain, and/or quail d'anvers this spring, however I only have broody hens and so need to be able to pick them up within a day or two of them going broody (likely March or April.)

Thank you!

Oh, dear, well, maybe Mina, but never Pocket Penny. I'm way too attached to that little minx. Actually, I like two being broody at the same time if I'm going to cave and give one eggs. They usually raise the babies together if they hatch within a day or so of each other. And they are usually not too bad off staying in the coop with the adults. I can't do that with the other birds. In fact, my Ameraucana x EE, Maretta, is broody in the main coop, too. I'd have to separate her. And right now, I really would rather not do that, since I need the broody cage for someone else.

Poor old General my Quail D'anver too is so lonely. Today he was literally ridding on the back of my EE hen. She is one of my largest who consistently lays 70g eggs. Lord love him he needs a girl his size.
