d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Thanks for the update SpeckledHen. Glad to hear y'all have a nice RV to camp in for awhile.

This too shall pass! I hope you can make the renovations soon.

And, though it's a bit drafty, I'm very grateful to have it! Could be camping out on my deck and it's been very cold the last few nights. I'd love to build a barn with a tack room that doubles as an emergency bunker in the future. Not that I have horses or plan to have any, but an emergency room in a barn would have come in so handy.

Someone has expressed an interest in having Sam so after Saturday, I may be down one extra cockerel. I hope, at least. He is a gorgeous boy, for sure. Maura will miss him, but for now, she'll still have Spike to bond with.

It sort of hurts to let Aubrey go. He may be a little jerk sometimes, but he hatched here and he's my little jerk and was named for one of my favorite BYC people. Have to be strong and maintain my resolve. It's not a great time to hang on to extra birds.

Hey Cynthia, sorry to hear about the run of bad luck you have had. Just hang in there and it will get better. Hate to hear you are getting rid of Aubrey and I live to far away to run down there and get him. I could use a good porcelain roo, not real crazy about the two I have. On a better note, I am finally getting a few porcelain eggs but not a thing out of my millies yet. Every thing else is layuing pretty good. I have two goldneck eggs in the hatcher ( along with 4 dozen others) but the goldnecks were both pipped when I left for work this morning. Maybe I will have my first one when I get home.

woo hoo JJ, I hope you have those goldneck hatch too. I have 1 due to hatch next weekend, the other eggs are anyones, just the goldnecks lay in the feeder, pain in the butt. At least I know when there is an egg from her.

Cyn, I am so sorry for all the troubles, I sure hope it is all over and only good will come from now on.

My little porcelain guy is doing great, Still not positive, but I think it is a cockeral. He will have to be sold if that is the case. I will have to pair him with a millie hen since I have extra of those. So if I sell them as a pair, they will produce millies split to lavander, correct?

JJ, I would love to give you Aubrey, but i know that is quite a long haul and i'm not in a position to even meet you halfway right now if I wanted to, of course. He sure is a handsome little jerk and produces some fine kids. He just hates the paparazzi!

Hi! I have 2 Antwerp Belgian d'Anver bantams, a rooster (Martin) and a hen (Tessie). I don't have pics of them yet, but I'll try to get some.

LRoach711 came and got Sam today so I am down to just Aubrey and his son, Spike. Poor Spike is so confused and so is Maura. Maura and Sam were a pair and Spike was with Leah, the pullet who died a few weeks ago when she had that strangely broken leg. Ladyhawk will be taking Maura when she comes in a few weeks, so I hope Spike can find a new home before then. He was so stressed out yesterday and today, being separated with Sam, then Sam leaving and him going back in the coop with Maura.
