d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Just thought I'd share a pic of my little tiny Self Blue chick trying to hide under the Moderns. She is about 1/2 the size of a normal d'Anvers chick. My line seems to thrown these pretty regularly. I have another, older small one that hatched about a month ago. I had one hatch in last year's chicks as well. I wonder if they are throwbacks to something used to make the variety?

The one last year and the older one this year are both pullets.

I hope you are right on the head spots because that would make both the Dun Cuckoos pullets.

Thanks Aubrey!
haha, well thats what ya got ! khakis for sure. I'm wanting a khaki barred so bad I can taste it, but so far I havent got one. I was thinking they looks kinda like a pair ( your chicks that is) but I cant see the heads of them very good. Ones a girls for sure though if that bold head dot thing works haha

could well be Julie,
not 100% sure, some time d'anvers just make tiny babies though. I see and hear of it a good bit. Never checked into it a bit.

to the black bird post, not sure about that. I dont free range much of nothing except cull stuff. But it would kinda sound good, they'd blend in better, except for on bright green grass.

and chickee,

I see after I read threw everything you are thinking pair too on the duns. Thought it kinda looked like the quail faced one had very thin spotting on his head. Speaking of that, just noticed it actually..... I made the dun cuckoo off my dun quail. After seeing those bright buff cheeks, I'm almost possitive he'll end up being... Barred, Dun, quail all in one....

I have 1 or 2 myself that are growing out and look to be that. I didnt have any solid duns yet 2 or 3 years ago when I made them, so they got a little quail in the back ground still I guess haha... will be pretty cool looking for sure...

Khaki barred would be neat! I have a WC Chocolate (I think, but looks more khaki to me) Cuckoo bantam Polish hen and I really like how she looks.

Yes, one of the Dun Cuckoo chicks has a big yellow spot and the other a yellow streak on its head just like you described

The only buff Columbian chick is the largest of the 5 and acts like a rooster. One of the Khaki chicks has darker gold on its head so I am hoping for a pair on those too

Barred Dun Quail . . having a hard time envisioning that, but sounds pretty! It will be fun to see what color they end up feathering in

They are dun quail. Quail. Cuckoo and a dun cuckoo. All the way to Alaska from Boggy Bottoms and 7 made it this far. Very excited. 3 were non starters and 2 may be quitters. I wont open them for another week.
Wow! All the way to Alaska?!

So you have a chance of getting a khaki quail too! You got a great variety of colors! I would have all the colors if I had room
