Yep Laura Lee,
They went out today, held them for one more day yesterday trying to get you 1-2 more, didnt work, there are 13 though.

With a good candeler light you can tell at 3 -4 days if you look close, but yes, it's a no brainer by 5-7, will be veins all over then, at 3-4 it's just a faint deal in the center of the yolk shadow.

Yes they candle very well. If using a flash light, any will work, stronger the better though, and the trick is to cup the light in your hand and set the egg on top just allowing the light into the egg, not straight in your face while you are trying to look. I have seen people cut a small hole in cardboard put the light under it and set the egg on top... all sorts of tricks work, just get light in the shell where you can make shift x-ray it and you'll be able to tell.

Yep Cynthia,
34 I think was the lowest we got, but it was for several nights with weeks of these low 40's too....pretty darn cold for south Georgia this time of year, what has the old girl done to us??

OH AUBREY!!!!! You're torturing meeeee!!!!

I was so hoping I would get the little egg babies in the morning!!!

But it's OK,

I completely understand why you did, and I truely do appreciate it. Just wish you lived next door so I could run over and get them.

I went to Walmart and got a Black & Decker LED Clip Light, it has a rating of 60 Lumens, and was actually cheaper than the mag lights, it was only $10. And the small mag lights went from $7. - $21. and had 14 & 28 lumens. What ever Lumens are.

I don't know.

But that's the info on the light if anyone needs to know.

Got home with it, took it straight out and put the batteries in and went straight to the fridge and grabbed an egg and candled it perfectly.

It was a dud, but we decided to keep it and eat it anyway.

I think it will do a really good job and the rim of the light has a rubber coating, you can actually put it right against the egg and it lights it up perfectly. Can't wait to see it in live action.
I'll have to figure out how to put up pictures on here and post a pic when I get one.

When do you think they will arrive? I've been beating up the postman trying to get a package card out of him.

Thanks to all of you for your great help. Glad that JJ led me this way, this place is great!!!

Thanks for the info. JJ, were ya been haven't seen ya in a while? How's your hatchlings doing?

I have checked in every night and and kept up with with all the Rusty bashing, just haven't had nothing to say. Hatch went well I have 9 little quail d'Anvers living in the house. Moved the other 30 out to my growing pen. Been giving away some birds to make room for whatever I might bring back from the Crossroads show. I think I am done hatching for the year, will start in the spring with my own eggs. So what colors are you getting?

Almost everyone had stopped laying, and since I'm just doing this for a hobby anyway, not going into showing or anything like that, and just wanted true d'anvers.
He is sending: 4 Crele, 4 Lavender Mottled, 3 Dun Cuckoos, 1 Dun Mottled, & 1 Dun Quail!!!
It should be a glorious array of colors in my yard by spring, which is what I was after anyway.
wink.png

I still want a couple other colors, but will pick those up in the spring.
Glad all yours are doing well, still have to 2 that were left from Ideal, and are doing great! Gonna try to get pics of them on here in a day or two.
Glad to see ya on here, talk with you later!

Yeah, but he sort of deserves it. My DH seems rather amused by him, though, to my utter amazement. Of course, to be flogged by a rooster of Rusty's size is sort of like getting a strong puff of wind at your ankles, LOL!

Aubrey, I guess those little hens are going to make me wait till spring for eggs. No matter, really. They are hands down the cutest, sweetest little girls I've ever had. I'll be hatching in the spring, though, one way or another, by incubator or broody.

Good Morning Humans who have created a new addiction for me.

So Cyn it is just after 6 am are you in the kitchen cooking My Little Love breakfast? Hmmmm are you? Well you should be, he loves buttermilk pancakes by the way, throw some blueberries in there so he can share with Suede. Chop Chop woman I expect his breakfast served by 6:30 am, he will call me and tell me if you fail.

Speaking of failures....how is the 1 lb menace this morning? And do not give that toerag any of My Little Love's pancakes, Aimee, Penny, Carly, Angus and maybe Aubrey depending on his attitude of late may share...make sure Shadow gets some along with Reba and Sunny but make Rusty WATCH ONLY!

6:23 am are they ready yet Rufus slave woman? Chop Chop time is a tickin

*snickering towards the coffee pot but not turning my back on Cynthia*

haha Cetawin,

you're too much!

Laura Lee, yes 2-3 days is normal on Priority, funny for all us east coasters it's usually 3. I can send then to Califorina and they are usually there in 24-36 hours though, Alabama right next to me, takes 4 day a lot of times! Crazy. Guess west coast gets a straight flight out of Macon from here. I'm in a small town so like JJ was saying, the first day doesnt count, they dont get picked up here til 5 pm, plus a day is 24 hours regardless of when it started, so 5 pm Tuesday to 5 p Wed. is say day 1.

I'd look for them Thursday, and count on them no later than Friday.
