Ok here I go..(just ask me if you have a question, I am not such a good teacher)
the color buff is a very interesting mix of Pheomelanin enhancers and Pheomelanin Diluters also. Of this enhancers Mahogany(Mh) is the strongest one and of the Diluters, Domiat Dilute(Di) is the most documented one so far. and we will focus on this two genes for now..
so baiscaly a buff bird is a wheaten based bird(ewh/ewh) that has been restricted(any black of the body reduced to a minimum, some more than others, some show complete lack of black others show some black peppering) this restriction is believe to be cause by Darkbrown(Db) or Columbian(Co). they have Mahogany(Mh) to enrich to gold Color to a deep red rich color(which is what you want in a Red D'Anver) and they carry Dominant Dilute(Di) to make that rich mahogany to a Rich Buff color..
I'll be using Henks chicken calculator.
so this is their genetic make up eWh/eWh Db/Db Mh/Mh Di/Di..
dont mind that they don't look like a self buff bird as what it takes totaly cover the tail in buff color is still undocumented genes, but you will get the idea.
now to the Black Breasted Red D'Anvers. they are basicaly WildType in color(looking very close to Red Jungle Fowl in color) so they are recessive to all of the Buff genetic make up.
this is their genetic make up so far. e+/e+ db+/db+ mh+/mh+ di+/di+
using the genetic calculator..
Ok now on the Calculator it will tell you that all of your birds will look buff instead of red. but this is NOT the case in real life. let me try to explain that in the next page ok..
