d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

that first male looks , or reminds me of what wheatons often color up like with that white in the breast, should all end up black though, if I'm not mistaken... havent had a chance to work with that color much yet. But that's what I'm thinking for now. If so he'll end up looking just like a bb red. You didnt hit columbian on him for sure though.

The middle guy, God who knows on that. It's not bb red for sure, it's not brown red. Kinda looks like a double laced of sorts. Brown red carrys a lacing to it, so it had to have come from them some where, but that will be one of those wait and see birds there.
That's the fun thing about these project eggs. You know what you should get, but that doesnt mean they'll all be what you expected.
On the last one. If it come from an egg marked SQ, it has to be a columbian. That's the only thing going in that pen, silver quail and possible columbian. I've had that pen of birds for about 10 years now and that's all that's ever come from them. Should get some black to her tail before long I would think, especially based off her chick down color.

My little ones are beginning to feather out more so I'm hoping you can help me determine which variety some of them are.

NanaKat they are so cute. They look really nice too. I have my first babies from Rufus aka My Little Love due to hatch on Saturday. I cannot wait to see them...he has 2 porcelain d'Uccle, 1 lavender d'Uccle and 1 black project d'Uccle split to lavender so who knows what I will get from this. hahahahaha but new recruits for the Hairy Legged Horde either way.

Cute, Kathryn, especially the last one!

Here is that cockerel chick Molly is raising, who is just over 7 weeks old now. Thought I had him rehomed, but it fizzled, so I may have to place an ad at the co-op, something I really would rather not do. Anyway, look at him-he has some hint of muffs, but no actual beard. Could Molly be plucking the kid?? He's super slow to get any color, too, which is weird.

Cynthia- it looks to me like it was picked, because there looks to be a hole where feathers are missing. The ones I have with their beards picked still have their muffs.

Aubery- Here is the male buff columbian with the goldish breast. Does it look close for an F1 buff columbian.

Well, dang it, then his mama is picking his scruffy little face, just like you said, JJ!

Here are some of the heathens that are residing here...the Lexington swap/sale is Saturday so the extra males and Orp, Orp X and Delaweggers are going....

Coch'anver pair Beau and Bonnie

Shadow and Raven:

Male I am keeping....Zeke the two behind him go to the sale although I like the one in the very back too

Funny thing happened this afternoon...my daughter forgot to latch Pen 3 and there were 19 babies from Cyn's and 22 of my babies running amuck outside. They decided to explore the back 2 acres. Cheyenne was yelling "Mom, HELP These d'anvers are fast!" hahahahaha They were all rounded up and put back inside. I lectured them before bedtime...not that it will matter to them.

'twas not my fault Cheyenne did not latch the barrel bolt. She said "Mom, they are babies, they should not have gotten that door open" I said "Daughter there are 40 of them in there to join forces...those are Hairy Legged Horde recruits, lest ye forget!" muahahahahahaha
