d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

My DH witnessed the young one trying to protect his mama this morning...from papa Aubrey! Aubrey was mating Molly and little man was jumping and hitting him from behind repeatedly. When Aubrey stepped off, little man ran to the front wall of the coop, acting all nonchalant like he hadn't done a thing, LOL. These D'Anver males have more moxie than they know what to do with, I swear.

Well, I came back today to post some pictures of my crew free ranging, but no one has replied since yesterday. Guess I'm the only one without a life, LOL.

Both roosters are missing their long sickle feathers now, so they look a tad bobtailed.

First, Aubrey, who is second in command. I think he looks spiffy against the woodsy background and I'm amazed that he didn't attack the camera today.

Angus, my main man. He's very calm for a D'Anver rooster, never bites or flogs.

Carly's chick, who has one of his white tipped feathers finally. He never stops moving so this is the best pic I could get today:

They are so cute. I have a pair of red tail hawks living on my property so I can let my little ones free range. I love the pics with all the greenery around them.

They are adorable Cyn but they still do not match up to My Little Love. BTW his first babies from here are due to hatch next Saturday. Woot. The first Hairy Legged Horde recruits hatching here. Muahahahahahaha

I have been pen building, roost building and etc etc in preparation for my trip to Florida on the 2nd. Hopefully I have everything sorted out and everyone rehomed by then (lots of extra mille d'Anver males if anyone is looking for one or two or three - they are from BBB's eggs, also have a n extra coch'anver male, orps and orp crosses, also delaweggers).

Anywhoooo some pics from the pen building. I made three pens inside my 10' x 20' main coop and I still have three breeder pens to build and mount on the wall. They will be 2' x 5' and house breeding pairs of coch'anvers.

So...Pen #1 which will be home to my Olive Eggers and green egg layers (right now the OEs, Paint silkies and porcelain silkies are residing in there with My Little Love and his 4 women.

Part of Pen #2 The Orp and layers area...i.e. the Big girls and boys

Pen #3 The Silkies' area. This area will house the paint and porcelain silkies but right now it is full of d'Anvers, Coch'anvers, Orp babies, Orp crosses and Delawegger babies...

Roost time and everyone jocking for position on the new roosts....some very pushy girls in this bunch

The Baby d'Anvers and crew being nosey

The chaos I created with changes...my big roo hates change. LOL

Been out of town but it is good to get home and see all these pictures. It's been kinda slow lately.

Cynthia= good looking birds, look like they are enjoying their freedom.

Cetawin- I am impressed. A swanson speed square in one pic and a framing square in another. I like precision work.

The guy I paid to help me cut my pop doors with a circular saw and did not cut them nicely, evenly and pretty .... I did actually pitch a minor fit about that but they are secure so I will fix the anesthetics later.

Loving all the pictures. Been too busy to respond. I want to get some pictures of my little ones on here to see if anyone wants to guess which are pullets and which are cokerals. I have my own guesses but this is my first clutch.
